Thank you for visiting our site and for taking the time to learn more about Norever! I am Nichole "Nikki" Lawrence, a stay at home Mom of two amazing young boys and loved and owned by my Frenchies and Bordeauxs! Although every human member of our family is always involved with the furry members, I will be the one you are in contact with in regards to our dogs and puppies. I have had the honor of loving and being owned by dogs all of my life and have had this amazing hobby of breeding since 2002. Along with our Frenchies and Bordeauxs, our family consists of me, my husband Vinnie, our 4 year old son Ty (pictured left in October 2009 with two pups from one of our breedings) as well as our 1 year old son Cruz. As you can see, it certainly is never a dull moment in the Lawrence household! LOL! Being a hobby breeder makes every day a special event, even more so when we have puppies. We do not view our experiences as a job or vocation but as a passion and love of life that walks on four legs. All of the furry members of our family live in our home just as the not so furry members do and have constant interaction with other breeds, my husband and I, as well as our small children - so our Frenchies, Bordeauxs and their pups are accustomed to many different types of people, dogs, smells and sounds. All of our dogs and puppies are registered with the American Kennel Club and come from the most prestigious bloodlines all over the world. In order to sustain the quality of care that each of our puppies and adults receive, we only have puppies available on a limited basis. We breed to produce puppies for ourselves to show and to do our best to contribute to improving the breed and the rest are placed in loving homes. Some of our puppies may be show quality, but ALL of them are always companion quality! We do everything we can to ensure that all of our puppies are healthy, typey, well-balanced, correct examples of the French Bulldog and Dogue de Bordeaux. As breeders, it is our responsibility to strive to better the breed and raise healthy, quality, well socialized puppies within the AKC standard - that are not only a joy to be around but attractive as well. Above all else, we breed for health, then temperament and conformation. We welcome questions about us! Please feel free to email me anytime and please ask for our phone number. We'd be glad to chat with ya! We need to make sure that you are comfortable with adopting a pup from us just as much as us feeling confidant in letting one of our babies go to you! We offer a life time of support with all of the dogs that we place and will always be available should you need help, advice or assistance with your puppy. Additionally, we always appreciate receiving updates and pictures of our babies and their new families! |
My promise as a breeder...
As a breeder, I breed with the intention to keep every puppy for the rest of their lives. If they are placed, I ensure that each puppy is placed in a loving home. I interview perspective owners (both pet and show) and do our very best to honor that puppy with the most suitable home possible. I am willing to say no when it is just not right for the dog.
As a breeder, I treat every dog as if it were our only pet. I house break, socialize and pamper each dog individually. I teach them all to love and trust humans.
As a breeder, I always put the dogs’ welfare first. Spare no expense or inconvenience. No matter the cost - time, emotions or finance - provide the best medical care, quality time and genuine love and compassion.
As a breeder, I stand behind ALL of the dogs and puppies that we place, no matter the amount of time the dog we place has spent in our home. Should the day ever come when they must go another home, we ensure they have learned how to be a pampered pet; well mannered, open and respectful of all creatures.
As a breeder, I am responsible for the exact reason that each and every pup I produce is here on this earth, therefore my door is always open to each and every dog/puppy that we place to come back to here at any time, not matter what the age or issue.
As a breeder, all of the dogs/puppies we place come with a life long commitment from me that I will ensure they continue to lead long, healthy and happy lives.
As a breeder, I breed to improve the breed. I am supportive of other breeders and am active in activities that benefit and support the breed. I am open-minded and willing to share good information and dogs with competitive breeders.
YOUR PUPPY'S LIFE AT NOREVER
We'd like to share with you how everything runs here. From the planning of the breedings until the pup is in their new home.
BREEDINGS
We like to plan our breedings as far in advance as we can, so if we do not have a puppy that you are interested in or do not have any available, please email us and ask what we are expecting. We also have a very wide variety of breeder buddies and can almost always steer you in the right direction for your next family member. By improving the breed, we select the sire and dam based on their health, pedigrees and conformation. We "weed-out" the undesirable traits by putting a breeding pair together who compliment each other physically and health wise. We also base our breedings on pedigrees and like dogs from past generations or "line-breed" to ensure our puppies come from the best, most healthiest bloodlines possible - and to keep the desirable healthy traits from those lines and eliminate the undesirable and unhealthy traits.
We try to do things as natural as possible here, but with the French Bulldog and Dogue de Bordeaux, human intervention is needed, more often than not. We do artificially inseminate our dogs if they cannot prove to breed themselves, but we always allow them try! Daily exams, supplements progesterone testing, sperm evaluation and other tests may be preformed before and during our breedings, which can become very costly! If we chose to use another breeder's stud, there are stud fees that must be paid, along with the progesterone testing. If the stud doesn't live within driving distance, then we must pay for the collection and shipment of semen as well as artificial insemination or surgical implantation of the semen for our female by our veterinarian.
DOGGIE PREGNANCIES
A dog's pregnancy is normally about 63 days or about 9 weeks long. Our pregnant Mamas are on premium dog food, receive daily supplements as well as cooked liver, chicken and boiled eggs on a daily basis until their puppies are about 8 weeks old. When the dams are about 7-8 weeks into their pregnancies, they are separated from the rest of the dogs and put in our dining room (which has been converted into a pregnant/whelping/puppy hotel (LOL)) in their whelping box to get used to and make their own with blankets and doggie beds. They are fed and rest in our dining room, but they also have the option to go in and out to the yard with the rest of the gang during the day. We often ultrasound our pregnant ladies around 4-5 weeks gestation to confirm pregnancies and get an estimated count of how many pups may be in there. We also x-ray them around 57-60 days gestation to get a more accurate count at the end of the pregnancy. When the c-section is planned, we will also opt for progesterone blood testing to be able to schedule the c-section better as the progesterone levels fall before whelping begins. I'm sure you can imagine just how much work and planning goes into a litter so far, and the precious puppies aren't even born yet!
WHELPING (BIRTHING) PROCESS
From our experience with this breed, we always opt for a cesarean section for our Frenchie girls. Our Bordeauxs we allow to whelp naturally. Luckily, we are only 6 minutes from our vet, so should anything happen, we are not a far drive. For us, there have been many issues that have come up with our Frenchies when we have let them whelp naturally. While there have been many successful natural whelping experiences for me as well as other Frenchie breeders, I can only speak from my personal experience and from that, we can say that it is in OUR dam's and puppies' best interest to do a c-section. C-sections can run from $1,000 in upwards of $2,000 or more depending on the complexity of the section as well as if the surgery is planned for normal hours or is an emergency or after hours situation.
THE FIRST TWO TO THREE WEEKS OF OUR PUPPIES' LIVES
The first two to three weeks of the life of a puppy are the most critical. They are often weak and require constant care. They need to nurse every 2 hours, usually more often than that - especially for puppies that require extra care. We also supplement the puppies with puppy milk to ensure they are getting the proper nutrition that they require and the energy to want to nurse from Mom. Some puppies often require special care, hourly bottle feedings and even specific veterinary care and medications during these first precious weeks of life. We do not get much sleep during the first few weeks, but it is all worth it to make sure all of our puppies are healthy and safe. Mom's food ration also increases significantly after whelping and often requires prescription canned food from our veterinarian to help get her appetite back. We also need to make sure that Mom is happy, healthy, eating and that she is caring for her puppies as she should.
I do not leave my home for the first 2-3 weeks of our puppies' lives and sleep on the couch downstairs to ensure that the pups are nursing properly, eliminating properly, making sure they are all thriving through out the night as well as the day and making sure that Mom is doing well. French Bulldogs are not known for their "maternal instincts", so I am VERY much involved in the first few weeks of their lives. No matter what time of day or night, we are involved hourly with the puppies - which usually leads into the next hour...
NOREVER'S PUPPY VACCINE, WORMING, DEVELOPMENT AND NUTRITIONAL SCHEDULE FOR THE FIRST YEAR OF LIFE
PLEASE NOTE: This is the basic schedule that my I personally follow for my dogs and puppies, that will vary for the specific needs of each litter/puppy and may be different than what your veterinarian recommends. Please discuss the vaccine, worming and nutritional schedule that your vet reccommends for your dog.
Puppies' Age |
Vaccines & Wormings |
Puppies' Development & Nutrition |
Birth - 2 weeks old |
No vaccines or wormings are given at this age. The dam is wormed 2 weeks prior to giving birth, on whelping day and every 2 weeks until the puppies are 8 weeks old or done nursing. |
At this age, puppies spend most of their time sleeping, than doing anything else. Their instinctive reflexes include: crawling, seeking warmth, nursing and also right themselves if placed upside down. Newborn puppies require stimulation for urination/defecation and require constant care from their mother. Their central nervous systems rapidly develop at this age. Eyes will open around 8-10 days of age and ears will open around 13-18 days of age. |
2-3 weeks old |
Puppies are wormed at 2 weeks of age. |
During this stage, the puppies' teeth begin to erupt, they can stand up and start walking, begin to lap liquids and can defecate/urinate without stimulation. They begin to become aware of thier environment and start to play with thier littermates. They develop sense of smell and will start to discriminate as to where to relieve themselves. We also introduce toys, old shirts and socks for them to play with and also we hande the puppies more to get them used to small stresses, like gently turning them upside down, tugging on an ear or a toe here and there and touching all parts of their body. We also introduce a milk replacer and mushy puppy kibble at this age. |
4-5 weeks old |
Puppies are wormed at 4 weeks of age. |
Dominance order starts as they rapidly grow and develop at this age. We begin weaning and introducing the puppies to our other dogs, and other rooms and noises in our home around this age as well. |
5-6 weeks old |
Puppies are wormed at 6 weeks of age. Puppies receive a Parvo vaccine at 5 weeks of age and a combination distemper vaccine at 6 weeks of age. |
From the age of 5 weeks puppies begin to growl to get food. The puppy is now considered emotionally developed and ready to learn. What it learns during this period will be retained and become part of its personality as an adult dog. |
6-7 weeks old |
Pups are at their total hearing/visual capacity at this age. They will investigate anything and everything and LOVE to get into things at this age. They will not respond to their name yet, but will come to a kissing noise or a clapping of the hands. |
|
7-8 weeks old |
Puppies are wormed at 8 weeks of age. Puppies receive a Bordetella vaccine as well as a Giardia vaccine at 8 weeks of age. |
The new owner must take these socio-ecological conditions into account: he must limit the space available when the puppy is not under human control and provide adequate space for elimination away from where the puppy sleeps. Puppies should be walked at regular intervals during this time and taught to eliminate outside or other proper sites before the age of 15 weeks. Indeed, clinical research shows that puppies limited to one spot to eliminate until the age of 15 weeks (for example, kept inside the house and taught to eliminate on newspapers) will often resist learning to use other media and locations (conditioning) and will retain themselves for hours when walking outside until they can eliminate on their preferred spot. |
9-12 weeks old |
Puppies are wormed at 8, 10 & 12 weeks of age. Puppies receive a booster of the combination distemper vaccine at 9 weeks of age. Then, they will receive another booster of the combination distemper and final boosters of the Bordetella and Giardia vaccines at 12 weeks of age. |
They develop strong dominant and subordinate behavior among littermates at this age. They begin to learn right/wrong behavior. Their mootor skills improve, but they still have a short attention span. They start to focusing attention on owner rather than other puppies. Full housebreaking, where the pup learns to eliminate outside, is learned best at this age. In large breeds this fear impact period could extend longer, since it is tied to sexual maturity. This is an important period to teach your puppy to fetch, especially for working dogs. A puppy that is not taught or refuses to learn to fetch will never be able to become a detector dog or a guide dog later on. |
3-4 months old |
Puppies are wormed at 12, 14 & 16 weeks of age. Puppies receive a final distemper booster as well as a one year rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age. Puppies also receive a Lyme vaccine at 12 weeks, then a booster at 15 weeks of age. After all boosters are administered, the puppies will receive 6 month boosters of the Bordetella and Giardia vaccines, and yearly boosters of the distemper and Lyme vaccines. Rabies vaccines are given every 3 years after the first year booster. |
During this critical period the absolute authority of the owner will be challenged. The puppy will make its first attempts to rebel and establish itself as the dominant being in the family. If the puppy is allowed to get away with it now, the confidence in and respect of the owner that developed during the previous period will be lost forever. It can't be stressed enough how important it is not to reinforce this behavior through confusing signals. A common mistake among new dog owners is for example the habit of feeding the dog before the family has their meal ("so he will not bother us while we eat"). In the "pack" the dominant dog is the first one to eat, so feeding your puppy first means recognizing him as the dominant member of your family! |
4-8 months old |
Pups are wormed every 2 weeks until they are 6 months old, and then are wormed monthly. |
This is the period when your puppy thinks it doesn't need you anymore and shows interest to wander in the outside world. Again it can't be stressed enough how important positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement may be at this stage. |
Our puppies receive constant interaction with our human family members from the day they are born, until the day they leave to join their new families. They begin being integrated with our other dogs around 5-6 weeks of age for only an hour or so at a time a few times a day then progressively for more and more time as they get older. We begin formal housebreaking and crate training around 6-7 weeks of age.
We are firm believers that the temperament of a dog certainly begins with the breeder. Their very first interactions with humans and other dogs besides their mother will be here in our home. These interactions will set the stage as to how they will react to new people, animals and new or odd situations for the rest of their lives. With that being said, as soon as the puppies are of age, we do everything we can to ensure that your pup has been exposed to as many different humans, dogs, children, situations, smells and sounds as we can physically offer them in our home without endangering them or risking their health in any way. As our puppies go to their new homes, we encourage their new families to continue the socialization path we have began to lay for them. We do everything in our power to ensure their new furry family member is socialized and trained properly and to the best of our ability, but we as their breeders only get the first 10 weeks of the puppies' lives to do our best and begin socialization! But remember that the new families will have much MUCH longer than that to ensure their pup is properly socialized and trained! Every dog is different, every situation is different, just as much as every dog in every situation will react differently, but if you do your homework and constant and proper training and socialization with your new puppy, you will be guaranteed to have the best doggie on the block!
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND that our new puppy/dog parents invest in any and all books and DVD's by Cesar Millan aka "The Dog Whisperer". Cesar teaches dog psychology - why your dog does what he does and how to work that to your advantage for a happier, healthier, and more behaved dog!! ADOPTION PROCESS
All prospective puppy parents will be screened prior to ANY sale! We reserve the right to refuse sale to ANYONE we see fit at any time! We need to make sure that our puppies go to the very best, loving, forever homes just as much as you need to make sure you are adopting a healthy puppy from a reputable and responsible breeder! We update this page as often as we can with new information or anything we feel as though you should know about us right off the bat. We welcome questions about us, so please feel free to email us anytime!!
When you have expressed an interest in our available puppies, we ask that you please fill out the puppy application on our website. We may have more questions for you or ask for references once we have reviewed your application. The application only takes about 5-10 minutes to complete, but it gives us a better understanding about you, your family, home, children, other pets and daily schedule and where our pup will be placed. We encourage you to be as detailed as possible when completing the application. This only will give us a better idea as to who you are and your plans for our precious puppies. We welcome and encourage you to email or call us with questions you may have about us as well!! We'd be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
We cannot express just how seriously we take placing our puppies in the very best homes possible. We do not answer short emails asking the prices of our puppies. If you do not take the time to write a little about yourself when inquiring, then we do not take the time to respond. The prices of our puppies begin at $2,500 for companion puppies. Show/breeding rights are considerably more. We highly believe in the saying "Quality isn't expensive, it's priceless!" and that certainly pertains to our puppies.
VISITING OUR HOME, LOCATION, SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Our home is located in South Jersey in Burlington County, New Jersey - just minutes from the New Jersey Turnpike and route 295. We are about an hour south of New York City once you get on the New Jersey Turnpike and about 35-45 minutes northeast of Philadelphia, PA. We always prefer (if applicable) that you come and pick your puppy up from our home! This way you can meet us, our dogs and see where your pup has grown up!
We welcome visitors to our home after the puppies are at least 6 weeks of age. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but there are many airborne infectious diseases that can unknowingly be brought in on skin and clothing that has the potential to put our puppies at a high risk of infection. At the age of 6 weeks, the puppies have begun their vaccine schedule and their immune systems are much more mature at this age. Our number one priority is with keeping our dogs, puppies and family safe and healthy! Besides, before 6 weeks of age, the puppies aren't much to visit! They are quite infantile and don't do much playing or running around. Their personalities really begin to shine around 6-7 weeks of age!

WE ARE NOW VERY PROUD TO OFFER A PERSONAL DELIVERY SERVICE VIA THE AIRLINES THROUGH OUT THE LOWER 48 STATES!!
My husband and I have decided to offer a service where we are able to ship our puppies that are under 20 lbs and small enough to fit underneath the seat in front of us on the aircraft! We are so happy to be able to offer a service like this! We had a horrifying incident with a dog that was shipped to us. He arrived VERY stressed and dehydrated. He required IMMEDIATE veterinary care and almost died! We do not want this to happen to another dog or family. No one should have to go through what our dog or us as a family went through! You also never know how the puppy is treated when we drop them off to be shipped as cargo at the airport. They have to wait in the strange cargo facility, be put on a strange airplane to be shipped and then wait again in a strange cargo facility to be picked up by you. With our service, we can guarantee that your puppy will be personally cared for by us from the time he/she is born until we hand them off to you at the airport. They will be traveling with my husband who they have been loved on by him since birth. That familiar smell and comfort during the flight will make the transition from our home to yours as easy and stress-free on them as possible!
This service also ensures that there will be NO TEMPERATURE RESTRICTIONS!! We are able to provide this service ALL YEAR LONG as the puppies will travel with us in the cabin! Right now, we can only offer this within the lower 48 states, but are looking to be able to provide this internationally very soon! We also offer this service to other reputable breeders.
